Fabulous Qatar Airways Flight: Cairo to San Francisco

Mon, Nov 1: Doha, Qatar

Flying home from Cairo on Qatar Airways was a relaxing ending to this amazing UnchartedX Egypt tour. I flew from Cairo to Doha, Qatar (3 hours, 5 minutes) for an 8 hour layover. Spent much of the time in the Al Mourjan Business Lounge. While it’s larger than the Al Safwa First Lounge, Al Mourjan is noisier and more crowded. But that is nit-picking.

Then on from Doha to San Francisco (SFO) (15 hour, 40 minutes). It’s a long flight but the Qatar Airways QSuite sure takes the edge off. As on the way over, Qatar Airways delivered a fabulous experience.

Cairo Ahlein Lounge

The Ahlien Lounge sports a modern, spacious layout. There weren’t very many people, so it was extra relaxing. Soon enough I was on my way to Doha, Qatar.

On arrival into Doha, we had to take a shuttle bus to the terminal. Qatar Airways first class passengers go first, and get treated to a spacious ride.

Al Mourjan Lounge in Doha

The Qatar Airways business class lounge is Al Mourjan. Well appointed with lots of food and drinks, but more crowded and somewhat of a letdown compared to the Al Safwa First lounge.

Soon enough I boarded the Qatar Airways flight for the ride home.

Is Qatar Airways CAI-SFO Better Than SFO-CAI?

No, flying Qatar Airways San Francisco to Cairo was better overall. On the way over I had both flights in Qsuites. Also, because the Doha to Cairo flight was in First Class, I got to relax in the Al Safwa First Lounge in Doha. The layover was 4 hours longer on the way over, but I got access to a free bedroom to get some quality sleep and a hot shower.

That said, the return flight was excellent, and the Qatar Airways Qsuite is an outstanding way to travel.

TIP: If you’re ever traveling to a destination served by Qatar Airways Qsuites. I highly recommend you take them over any other airlines. It’s well worth it.
